EVE OWEN MOTHER

‘Mother’ comes from one of the most exciting newcomers in indie-pop: Eve Owen. Warm guitars and a punchy drum pattern are offset by subtle string countermelodies, while it is her impressive voice that takes centre stage. Able to drift from mellow, dark and atmospheric low notes all the way to powerful, serene highs without breaking a sweat is a talent any artist would kill for, but Owen manages to prove her skill time and time again just in this track. She explains that the track “is about a big energy, a big being always there to hold you and heal you when needed—whether that being is in your dreams, in music, in your family, in ideas, in who you are, in what you want to be. This energy never leaves if you keep it close by”. It’s taken from her upcoming album Don’t Let The Ink Dry, due for release on May 8th. - Dan Peeke
